Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 1, 2026
High School Years ("we," "our," "us") operates the High School Years mobile app and the highschoolyears.org website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account & Profile Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, school, state, and graduation year to verify you as a student and connect you with your class. You may optionally add a profile photo, a personal quote, future plans, and achievements to your yearbook profile.
Content You Submit. Photos, stories, memory entries, and other content you post to your profile, your school's Yearbook Hub, or other hubs within the app.
Partner & Sponsor Inquiries. If you or an organization submits an inquiry through our Partners & Sponsors hub, we collect the name, company, email, phone number, and message provided.
Usage & Device Information. We use analytics tools (including Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the Service is used — this may include device type, app version, general usage patterns, and crash reports. This data is not linked to your yearbook profile content.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
-
Verify student identity and school affiliation
-
Operate the Yearbook Hub, including name/school/state search and class-year browsing
-
Display your profile and content to other verified students, as you choose to share it
-
Respond to partner and sponsor inquiries
-
Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
-
Communicate with you about your account or the Service
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
-
Service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., Supabase for data storage, Google/Firebase for hosting and analytics), under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us
-
Other verified students, limited to the profile content and yearbook information you choose to make visible
-
Law enforcement or legal authorities, only where required by law
-
A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy's protections continuing to apply
4. Children's Privacy
High School Years is built for high school students, and we take extra care given that many users are minors. Accounts are verified through school affiliation. We do not knowingly collect more information than necessary to provide the Service, and we do not use student information for third-party advertising. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information beyond what is described here may contact us at the email below to review, correct, or delete it.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data storage and transmission, to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Cookies & Website Analytics
Our website (highschoolyears.org) may use cookies and similar technologies for basic site functionality and aggregate analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
